Travel to China

Travel to China is one of the most interesting experiences you can have. Beijing is changing so fast that new maps are printed every month. Unfortunately, in large cities, like Beijing, culture is losing out to modernization. So go soon!

The first time you go, you might want to go with a tour. You can also travel independently if you are adventurous. You will need a passport and a visa for entry into China.

If you decide to go with a tour, there are some unique specialty tour experiences including qigong, or Chinese medicine. If you would like to know more about this kind of travel, I can recommend a group for you to travel with. I will also be happy to answer any questions you have about travel to, and in, China.

Here is my documentary of my 2002 China.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Below are some photos from my previous trips to China, a country that is endlessly fascinating.

The Great Wall

Incense burners and steles at a temple
Longmen grottos carved Buddhas. More Buddhas here than I have seen in one place.

Parks in China are beautiful and tranquil, with many cultural points of interest. This one is near Shanghai.

Another park in Shanghai, a gathering place for retired people.

Prayer bells at a temple in Chengde

6 in the morning in Shanghai. Breakfast on the streets (certainly more interesting than in the hotel restaurant!)

White Cloud Daoist Temple in Beijing
Tiananmen Square. The size of it is overwhelming
This is the "Well of Sorrow" in Forbidden City. When the emperor was gone, and he fell out of power, the royal family and concubines would drown themselves here rather than be captured and killed.

Liuluchang Culture Street in Beijing with its wonderful antique shops is scheduled to be torn down, and rebuilt so it is more "modern" for tourists. Too bad.

Art shop on Culture Street in Tianjin. I bought the colorful floral painting on the back wall. I always forget how big these are until I get them home and they reach from ceiling to floor. But they are wonderful to have. (I bought several, that's why they are so happy!!)
